Hi ,

Welcome to April's Leadership Chronicles Newsletter.  This month's topic focuses on "The Intelligence Conundrum" .  Many highly intelligent people excel at the technical aspects of their jobs, but seem to lack the vision, political acumen and social skills needed to climb to the top. Today's business climate requires that leaders be far more than just intelligent.  This month's newsletter highlights ways in
which intelligent people can get out of their own way, and begin to use
their greatest strength to gain that coveted top spot.

Enjoy,

The Mariposa Team

So Smart But...How Intelligent People Lose Credibility-and How They Can Get it Back
by Dr. Allen Weiner

Author Allen Weiner takes a closer look at how highly intelligent people, who on paper appear to be the next best thing, end up never attaining their true leadership potential.  They may come from the best schools, have high IQ's, and are determined and focused, but something blocks their path to the top...and it turns out to be themselves!

In So Smart But...Weiner explores the importance of credibility, and offers sound advice from over thirty years of communication consulting experience.  Weiner outlines how highly intelligent individuals sabotage their own credibility, and shares how today's leaders can make measurable improvements to regain their credibility status. So Smart But...shares the unique inside track on what it truly takes to earn and keep that top spot.  The book is filled with powerful anecdotes, personal insights, and access to a free 360 degree type assessment for you to use today!

Read Weiner's book and learn what it takes to avoid being the person that's so smart but...

 Leadership Tip from Sue

Leadership smarts come in two flavors: effectiveness and wisdom.  Effectiveness is more veritical: it's a drilling down that comes from lots of practice.  Wisdom is more horizontal: it's seeing the big picture, being emotionally intelligent, and demonstrating a discernment that comes from experience.
